Rocksite (at the centre of the picture at left) nestles in peace and seclusion among its own four acres (1.6 hectares) of wildlife-rich native pinewoods on a south-facing hillside. This hillside overlooks the stunning mosaic of forests, farms, woodlands and heather moors of Strathardle - a scenic jewel unspoiled by mass tourism - and the picturesque village of Kirkmichael. |

The grounds form part of a 200-acre (80-hectare) woodland and heather moor that is home to wild deer, native red squirrels, pheasants and many species of bird. The deer and squirrel shown here were photographed from the lounge windows. Red squirrels are frequent visitors to the feeder by the terrace. |

Enjoy al fresco dining on the south-facing terrace, furnished with a six-seat table with parasol. Gas barbecue provided - gas with our compliments. |

With trees to climb, heights to storm, huts and hideouts to build, wildlife to spot, and nooks and crannies to explore, Rocksite is a paradise for children who love the outdoors and the countryside. However, please note that because there are no boundary fences or walls, Rocksite is not a suitable place for very young children to play outside unsupervised. |
"You wouldn't believe how much we are looking forward to going back to Rocksite! Your cabin is homely and friendly, and it is apparent you care about your guests' comfort. It makes all the difference, having the confidence in where we are going. We know that the cabin has everything to offer for us adults, the kids and the dogs. And I love walking in the pine forests!"
